  • Where to stay in Pila, Aosta, Italy ?

Thinking of doing a few days in Pila as we’re only a couple of hours away at the Whiteroom in Summer.

Can anyone recommend a place to stay close to the lifts? Is there anything else worth checking out while in Pila?

not sure where to stay but i had an awesome days riding there. the descent from the chairlift to the river has to be the best trail i have ever ridden. La Thuile is only up the road and thats full of tekkie riding so take your A game there with no hangover.

I stayed in a small town La Rossier on the french boarder, took me about 1 hour + to get to Pila but a straight forward drive.

But cant praise Pila enough and cant wait to ride that trail again

We stopped at a B&B in Aosta, great town to stay in.

Don’t remember name and it was nothing special anyway – apart from the bizzare and enormous buffet of cake for breakfast.

Totally hear you Cube, we went to La Thuile on the practice day for the Enduro last year, still open to other riders but they were shredding past us scary fast. Loads of techie singletrack.

Pila was great, anywhere in the old town is close enough to cycle to the main lift up to Pila. Make sure you do the full descent to Aosta a couple of times, it’s seriously ACE! If I find our hotel I’ll post it’s name. Cheap, clean and good breakfast. Close to all activities for evening meals and beers.

Agreed stay down in Aosta. The lift runs right to Aosta at the bottom of the valley and it’s a proper town with things to do, lots of restaurants etc. Pila is dead in summer.
We’ve stayed at a couple of B&B/cheap hotels in the town via booking.com. The tourist office are quite helpful too.

Haha, All you guys have listed the reason we’re going back to Pila!
Dusty trails, 12km descent, fast n flowy, nice jumps n drops. La Thuile is good, but Pila is where my heart is.

Would love a recommendation of somewhere to stay, for English non foreign speaking fools. Even better if you can tell me about the car park, as this will decide whether we break our bodies driving the Escort RS or a comfy easy drive in the van.

Aosta looks absolutely lovely, all I really saw of it was the gondola car park and the industrial estate but I reckon I could have spent days in the town itself. But la thuile isn’t that far away either and feels a bit more compact and mountainy (though not too resorty), depends what you’re after. And you will want to ride both. Pila has the best single trail I’ve ridden over there and La Thuile is I think my favourite riding venue.

    Etoile De Neige, Pila.
Its next to the Chamolé chairlift, secure bike room and perfect location.
(Its also very close to “The Bar Yeti”. Amazing food at great prices. I honestly dont know how they do it.)

    Airbnb is good.

I had a 2 bed apartment in Venice for 45 euros a night.
    For 4 people amazing price.
    Just message a few owners.

Thanks guys, tried Etoile De Neige and a few others, most are fully booked for the end of August already! Is there something going on that I don’t know about.

Decided to start editing some footage from the last visit, here’s a clip.
