Amazing voice and tone/harmonies, of course built on a classic backing. The deep bass when it comes in and the long notes at the end send shivers up my spine. And despite doing almost nothing, they have amazing stage presence; you can tell they trained as a dancer, even just standing there every limb is perfectly placed.

Too many to really count but I’m really enjoying this:

    and this

During the pandemic, when live music was basically not a thing, these 2 hit me really hard because of the audience participation and the sheer joy in the room, I missed gigs so badly..

Saw Alex Harvey in 73 supporting this mob:

But If I’m being honest it’s this, the Irish dancing is ace:

I think this is a great way to begin a gig. Great energy but also so cool.

I don’t suppose this will appeal to most but it’s just a fabulous performance of one of the finest pieces of music ever written.

Used to see him regularly around Stourbridge…mostly in The Swan, maybe you were there too!

Should also add this, possible my favourite song.

    the crescendo in the middle:

The words I’d use to describe this are probably too explicit:

and something (slightly) more recent that I love

And from this year, been watching this set on near repeat

My flatmate used to go out with Les (from Silverfish) and the drummer from Napalm Death was related to someone else in my house so there was always someone from the Brum music scene throwing up in our bathroom or asleep on our sofa…….and yes that included Miles (who used to be in the poppies anyway) I was at that gig – Bescot stadium!

@desperatebicycle – without editing the intro? It’s a superb set.

I’m not expecting this vid to be popular with the Floyd haters, but at about 6:48, near the end, when the fireworks are going off around the rim of the coliseum, there’s a guy who puts his hand on his head in awe; I can pretty much hear him saying “F*** me, it was worth the price of the ticket for this alone”

The rendition of Comfortably Numb on the same occasion is really rather special too

Pixies at Brixton  in 91 is very high in my list as I was there, but Santana at Woodstock doing Soul  Sacrifice is the absolute best

Mainly for the crowd going ballistic

Mainly for Stevie Nicks singing a full-blooded breakup song to the bloke who inspired it.

I really like The XX, and haven’t seen them live. Hopefully some gigs coming up with a new album coming out.

Also for a bit of nostalgia, there’s a channel, Dexbam who cleans up old bootlegs and VHS from gigs of my teenage years. This is a big fave.

blimey, @martinhutch, I thought the video of Rhiannon I posted captured nicks at her most intense, but jeeeeeezzzz, do not cross that woman! At the start of the performance it looked like – to use an stw phrase – it was a bit dusty in there, I thought a forgiving hug was on the cards, but by the end her performance was something way more powerful.

ooh, having posted on the “who would you pay a fortune for thread” and said something to the tune of “I’d rather have a Time Machine to see my favourite bands in tiny venues” you’ve reminded me to be grateful for what I have seen. Namely the XX back when they were a four piece playing an album launch party in a tiny record store, and a few months later in a tiny venue. Good times.

great videos on this thread. I really need to get out and see some more live music.
