  • What pump for 29+ ?
  • I’ve got a collection of small pumps including a Lezyne Road Drive and an Airwave Mini of some sort I think. I’ve also got a spare Lezyne Mini Pressure Drive.
I’m guessing any of these would take all day to inflate a 29+ from flat.

What about a medium size Lezyne HV Drive, would that be up to the job, or do I need something bigger?

    Edit to add;
I don’t like pumps that connect directly to the valve, I always feel like I’m about to bend the valve.
I’d rather have a short flexible connecting hose.

29+ isn’t really any bigger than 29 when it comes to inflation.
Lezne Hv’s work for me on 4.8’s though if you’re than bothered.

    Not much bigger?
Surely if a 3.0 tyre is 1.5 times the width of a 2.0 tyre, it’s about 2.25 times the volume?

In real life it doesn’t work out like that.

    There’s not much difference between a 2.5DHF and a Knard on a 50mm rim…
Do you get people wanting a special pump for a 2.5 DHF? 😆

You’ll be asking for special 29+ grips/saddle/seatpost/beard/vegan cycling kit soon. 😛

I expect we’ll see “Enduro” pumps soon for 650b!

Fair enough. I was thinking of a 2.0 tyre on 29mm rim against a 3.0 tyre on a 45mm rim.
Even if it is over twice the volume though, I’ll be running at lower pressures, so I guess it wouldn’t be twice the number of pump strokes to reach full pressure.

    TBF.
You should be using a HV pump for any MTB tyre…

Or did you just want to tell people that you’re getting a 29+ bike without actualy saying it. 🙂

Can’t beat the Leyzne Alloy Drive.
Works for me & my big ass ol 29+ Knard on a45mm rim.

You know how they say that when man has died out & only cockroaches will be left…
Well they will be living in little cities made of Lezyne Alloy drives. That’s how long lasting they are.
