Her HTC thingy is failing after 18 months (poor battery and signal strength) so I’m thinking of getting her a new one for Xmas. She uses it mostly for texting and Facebook so anything that integrates those in a user friendly manner would be best. Something Android-based possibly best.

Haven’t had to look into phones since getting my iP4 2yrs+ ago, so have no idea what’s hot and what’s not.

Smart phones don’t get any simpler than an iphone, they really don’t.
All droid phones will be more complicated as such.

I kind of know what you’re saying, but it’s still overkill for what she’ll use it for. And iPhones still go for a premium which means paying over the odds for what’s needed.

Nexus 4 is the go-to Android at the moment IMO. Very hard to beat for the price.

If she’s a text hound, maybe look at Blackberry devices?

My mrs just upgraded to the Sony Xperia T. She loves it.
