What in the world of Citroen based kit cars is this thing?

Google image search suggests it’s a Mega Ranch, based on a Citroen AX.

I was going to say,  kit car or just a body kit on a Citroën ax hot hatch?

With some wheel spacers or preferably better offset wheel with a bit of dish it might not look so terrible.

The Mega won the Andros Trophé ice racing championship in 1994. They now make little utility vehicles you’ll see in many French towns and some other odd-ball stuff:

To be fair that thing looks a whole lot better in a colour other than white. There’s a pic on wikipedia that doesn’t look too bad at all.

In a southern Europe hot and dry environments, cool. Wet and dreary Huddersfield, not so much

Yup, limited to 45kmh. They’re now up against the Citroën Ami and a start up I’ve forgotten the name of which are EVs rather than clattery diesels.
