Got an gt I drive 2.0 off the classifieds. Just curious which forks n travel I’m best to go with, I plan to use the bike as a play bike to mainly use at a local freeride park?

you can only put a fork with the original amount of travel on, i think its 85mm

Those old I drives came fitted with Rockshox Psylo forks, which were 125mm of travel. So anything up to or around that length is going to be fine…

just checked meant to run at 100mm

You certainly don’t have to put a fork on with the same travel as the original .

You didn’t read what I wrote then? Cos they all came fitted with 125mm travel Psylo’s from the factory!

Some of the lower models came with 100mm Judy’s, but the 2 and the 1 had 125mm Psylo’s for sure…

Most of the 01s had 100mm forks, but there was at least one race model- might’ve been the Team, maybe it was the Race- that came with an 80mm fork.

I started mtb on a rigid Raleigh M-trax ,courtesy of some compo from an rta my first ‘proper’ mtb was a GT STS-XCR1000 . it came with Rockshox sid xc forks that were 100m travel I swapped them for some Psylo race forks and ran them at 125mm with no ill effects.

The 99 and 2000 model years came with 100mm forks, for 01 the top models came with 125mm forks.

The “Race” model you refer to was a shorter travel frame designed for XC racing, and did come with an 80mm fork yes I match the 80mm rear end travel, not the 115mm of travel of the longer travel versions…

That cleared it up much? 😉

If its that green and black i-drive 2 I had one of those and it came with 100-125mm u-turn (internal adjust) Psylos.

Heavy but very very good xc frame.

So, in answer to the OP’s question regarding which forks to fit, I’d personally suggest a set of rockshox reba 120s from the classifieds when some turn up.
