Garmin Instinct if she want’s something slightly chunky like a G-shock. Does the simple smart stuff you need, but nothing clever that makes you go ‘oooohhhhhh’.

This is precisely why I’ll be getting whatever the latest Instinct when my Fenix 6 Pro is EOL, as I don’t use my Garmin watch for anything other than exercise.

The Blacks/Millets chain have Instinct 2X Solars on sale currently, it’s sorely tempting but as above no point for me whilst the F6pro is working.

After being tech support for other half and Mum who had 5 Fitbit Versa 2/3 between them over the last three years, I would not buy a Fitbit product ever again. Only one of those 5 are still running. Fitbit admitted with the Versa 3 there was a known problem, but were a real pain to get recompense.

I’ve had a Garmin Versa two, for 6 years. After 2 battery swaps it’s still being used daily by my old man. I have a Venu 2 which has been great and does everything I need. The Garmin Connect app is not very well organised but you get to grips with it and it works well.

    Just a quick update,

I bought my wife a Garmin Lily – the next version is out.  Aimed to look nice, simple functions, integrates with Garmin Connect.  She is very happy with it.

I plumped for the Lily 2, it arrived today.  It was a tossup between that and the SQ2, the latter is more fully-featured but I’m not buying it for me and I think the Lily is more suitable design-wise.

I’ll let you know in a couple of weeks whether I chose wisely or not, it’s her birthday on the 12th.  Thanks to all who offered advice, appreciated.
