I would like to run 30 teeth up front or could I run a TA Specialites Chainring MTB 64bcd 4arm on the granny ring?
Thinking that might look a bit odd.
Also would I need a Paul's Keeper as the XCX won't work.

To clarify, do you mean an MRP Bling Ring? It replaces the spider so you can't run a second granny ring as well.

Any SRAM crank with a removable spider should work (ie X9/X0/XX); can't remember about X7 but I think there's a non-series one (?S1400) that works.

Oddly, Bling Rings apparently don't work with BB30 cranks (GXP only) - MRP tell me this is due to different spindle length & resulting crank offset.

I see there are a few variations of X9 chainsets.
Is there ONE type with removable spider that I need to look for?

I think they are all the same, but if you're not using the chainrings the truvative AKA chainset is the same arms rebranded with cheaper chainrings and you can generally find it cheaper.

Note they don't work with XX as this doesn't have a removable spider. There are also some OEM versions which SRAM / Truvativ make which also work.

You can use one of these on a standard 104bcd crank.
30T Anderson Ring.

Don't think this is true - am running a 28T on my Spesh Camber with no problems.

The spiders themselves that SRAM provide (damn hard to get hold of individually) are GXP and BB30 specific.

Would assume the difference affects chainline. The wrong one may work, if you're not using a guide, but to match up with a guide you'll probably be better off with the right one, and thus the same goes with the Bling Ring. In fact I understand that's the selling point of it compared to Homebrewed Component's spiderless chainrings which some argue aren't aligned right for a 1x guide. Though Homebrewed are compatible with more cranks than MRP's.

P.S. NSB do a SRAM spider, though only a 2x currently. The deal with theirs is it's 104bcd on the big so you can stick normal chainrings on. Some of the SRAM 2x spiders are infuriating 120bcd.

To be clear - am running bling rings on 3 bikes with MRP guides; 2 are GXP, one is BB30. All three work perfectly.
