No option for a 3.5mm jack btw 🙁

Just for making and receiving calls so i don’t get clobbered with a £200/6 point fine

The cheapest option is to not use the phone when you’re driving.

Do you have DAB radio in your car?, if not/and you want it then fit a pure highway 400/600 that can send a signal to an unused fm frequency and also works as a Bluetooth hands free kit for your phone

What call is going to be that important?

Are you in the emergency services? A specialist heart attack doctor? Etc?

    No. I’d imagine you’re not.

Wait until you stop the car. Nothing is that urgent.

Sat in traffic jams from Liverpool to Widnes. How should I have dealt with the calls? Pulled over?
    Sometimes this place beggars belief.
    Cheap solution Jabra Drive.
More expensive go for a radio with bluetooth.
EDIT: Wonders whether the OP has lost the company car due to a job change and now needs hands free in a new to them, but somewhat older vehicle.
Wonders whether the OP has bought themself an older car for fun, which doesn’t have handsfree connections.

Clearly it’s more productive to cast aspersions and berate someone for inferred past misdemeanours, than it is to help them to correct their alleged mistakes.

Well if the phone was switched off in the glovebox you could have arrived at your destination, parked the car, switched the phone on and retrieved your voicemails 😯

Were they a matter of life and death?

Just wait, get off the road, maybe in to a nice quiet industrial estate, and then listen to your voicemail.

    What an absolutely absurd concept.

A Jabra for fifteen quid will do the job perfectly, no need for any other fancy gubbins when they do the job so well.
It’s what I use, I’m often driving around 300 miles a day, so far somewhere well north of the 17,195 my satnav is showing since last July, and for the occasions when I need to be contacted it does the job with no fuss.
I don’t make calls, just receive them, and my phone is also my satnav, so is stuck to the screen.

    Parrot kits are good.

Years ago I always had the proper Nokia cradles installed, worked perfectly plus charge your phone – job done.

Since then I’ve tried many of the cheaper kits, but the Parrot that we installed into the wifes’ car worked best..

Now both cars are pre-installed with Bluetooth, so seamless.

Consequently, buy something decent, get it installed – also can be used to play back music and podcasts etc.

I remember a company I worked for that said if you were on any business journey you should update your voicemail message to say when you’d next pickup your messages…

    Yea, right.

It handy when driving 100 +miles and where you are going to is cancelled.
I usually stop at services or of the rod if to make a call, still using the parrot mini kit.

I use a bluetooth jobbie that transmits over FM and runs off the cigarette lighter, lets me play podcasts from my phone as well and broadcast the sat nav instructions over the speakers.

Wow, they’ve thought of everything these days. I remember when we used to dream of a paperless office.

In Scotland that would have a very different meaning.

Parrot is by far the best stand alone kit. They have been in the game from when bluetooth was available and many after market stereos use Parrot inside.

IMO parrot isn’t the best. My IO play 2 is better than the parrot mki9200 that my wife has. Better more powerful amp, much much quicker at connecting, remote doesn’t regularly run out of batteries as it’s wired, screen is much clearer despite being smaller. It’s also cheaper, but not so easily available

So how is the voice recognition instigated, is it via the Parrot device linked to the phone contacts list or via the phone voice recognition, everytime I have tried to use voice recognition on my Phone(Moto G)it has failed miserably and anyway you have to actually touch the phone to activate it.Does the Parrot device work from the phone in standby. I have a visor system at the moment which is good for receiving calls but will only dial out the last dialled number.
