What baby bike seat?

The time has come… looking for a bike seat for mini-badger to go on a hardtail and would appreciate any recommendations, etc. She’ll be turning 1 in a few weeks and is already walking, climbing steps, etc. so happy she’s pretty robust/has good core strength and it’s something we’d want to be able to use both on tarmac and gravel/bumpy tracks as well. If there are any good ones that don’t need to use rack mounting points that’d be ideal as it’d give a bit of flexibility across our bikes.

The Thule Yepp Mini worked well for us.

Two bolts fix it to headset spacers under the stem (assuming there’s room), and is easy to swap between bikes.

I’ve got a WeeRide. The Feral Gremlin loves it. It’s awkward to pedal at first, but you adjust your gait, and given you’re not really looking for efficiency, it does the trick. She’s reaching 15kg now so looking for a rear seat for her. Thinking one of the Thule ones, but not sure (so happy for a thread hijack here).

We’ve done loads on the WeeRide, mainly easy bridleways here, but also some relatively technical bits. Took her round Rothiemurchus for a couple of hours, up Glen Eunoch and the circular around Loch Affric too. Also accidentally got air with her messing about in Trowbarrow Quarry.

First rude I took her on, she fell asleep. Which I took as a sign of approval.

I have a very good condition hamax siesta that no one wants to buy, if you’re anywhere near Chester you can have that. Worked great for us.

@droplinked – did you get on ok mounting over the spacers? The Thule website, etc. seem to note 28mm max diameter and possibly removing spacers to mount direct to steerer tube.

Don’t go bumpy too early tho…..give them time to get used to it and get stronger neck muscles. And then get a balance bike. Those shotgun seats look pretty good too

The Thule Yepp mini worked well for us….. Not so stealth ad. I have one for sale on market place . East central Scotland.

No problem whatsoever clamping over spacers.

But note I’ve got the original version. It looks like they have an updated ‘Yepp 2’ now, so can’t comment on that one.

Cheers all, I think the WeeRide might be the way to go for flex between different bikes, then a rear one of some description once she’s older/bigger. Does it do ok for clearance against fork crown? Appreciate it’ll vary a fair bit between bikes…

With eldest, I found crown clearance on the weeride was fine until she grew. Moving the seat further back helped but then pedalling became a knees out affair.

Bought a tyke toter for when she got older but it didn’t get much use until we switched to a tagalong.
