Proper festive Eastenders edition of family togetherness!! 😬😬

Just been away for my daughters 21st at a local holiday park (ten of us). All being going well and I was packing to come home tonight as planned as I’ve got work tomorrow. Me and the wife were just talking in the bedroom how nice it had been and how everyone seemed to enjoy it.

Not ten minutes later there was a massive bust-up between my daughter and my niece (38). Niece basically lecturing my daughter about her life and my not-for-taking-any-shit daughter wasn’t having it. Especially from some one who has no grounds to talk about perfect lives. Ended with niece getting up and calling her a spoilt little bitch then storming into her bedroom!

It’s been brewing for years but we thought our niece had enough about her to know it wasn’t the time or the place. But 30 minutes of arguing between them later I think it’s safe to say we won’t be seeing my niece for a good while.

The niece, our other niece, wife and daughter were due to stay one more night at the site and got to a Spa hotel tomorrow.

It’s now just my wife and daughter that will be going as both nieces live in Devon and drove up in one car and now we’ll on their way back.

Niece finding out what FAAFO stands for! Good on your daughter for not taking any shit from anyone. I hope the car that’s going back to Devon has a good heater, ‘cos the atmosphere is likely to be rather… frosty! 🤣

My sister (I’m eldest of four, two lads two girls) thinks she knows all about parenting. Mid 50’s married no kids. The rest of us have kids, mine being adults now.

Bloody hilarious her giving my younger brother and sister advice (they have young kids). My sister has a dog and treats it like a baby and arent going to a family get together on Sat 30th December just in case someone lets fireworks off (no thats 31st). Dog has a pram and a range of jackets.

Nope – been in a relationship with a psycho boyfriend for over ten years (who has on occasion tried to stab her).

My wife has had nothing to do with her mother for 20+ years. She dropped them like a stone when she ran off with another bloke. We’ve basically been parents to both nieces and treated them like daughters. The younger niece (36);is fine and rounded but the older niece has always resented the ‘normal’ upbringing our daughter has had.

She’s not had a easy life but we’ve done our best for her – doing all the usual stuff parents would do. We’ve picked her up so many times we’ve lost count.

Line of the night – niece “I’ve had years of therapy to deal with my issues”. Daughter – “Well, you obviously need some **** more then”.

If it’s wasn’t so sad it would be funny.

I’m really sorry that this has kicked of like it has and ruined the trip for you all, but your daughter sounds awesome!

surprisingly not! We’d just finished a Christmas dinner as we wouldn’t see the Devon nieces until spring now.

I was packing to go home and then the girls were planning on jumping in the hot-tub and having a girly night. My sis in law and her nieces and nephew were there too.

Arghhh, I thought it was widely known for Devon women to be crazed due to the levels of radon gas.

On a plus point – if anyone fancies visiting Derbyshire I can highly recommend Darwin Forest Lodges! 👍

It’s full of radon there too! Highest level of water borne trace radionuclides in the UK too apparantly.

Still makes good tea though and agree with you about Darwin Forest Lodges. Is that not 5 minutes up the hill for you though?

15 mins tops from my house! 🤣

But no one has a house big enough for 10 and we wanted to do something different, and the facilities up there are an added bonus – and it’s something different.

It felt like a good idea when I put it forward a few months ago!

    That explains it.

As christmassy family disasters go it’s good.

But it’s not “letting your dog out the car, seeing the raised eyebrow and piling everyone back in the car and driving home on Christmas eve” good

At least you swerved the argument joshvegas! 🙂

There were things  said yesterday that will take years to heal. The same niece wrecked Christmas last year when she stayed with us for four days. But we kept out trap shut for the sake of our every decreasing family circle.

My wife and daughter have gone to the Spa as planned today, so hopefully they can relax and unwind.

If memory serves me correctly the next year the update was that things improved after that.
