What a fantastic day on the hill at Jackson Bridge.
I spent the day catching all the riders as they came through the finish line in their varied states of utterly wastedness! Big respect to all who competed on what is as true a test of climbing ability as you’ll find.

Just got back! He did well; I’m proud of him. 4.44 I think his time was, so still about twenty odd seconds down on Dan Evans (think he was 4:20); the tips and tricks obviously didn’t help him 😉

23rd overall he was. Richard Bussell stormed it; won by about five seconds which is a pretty big margin!

Yeh, it was a cracker; good turn out; not too windy or cold, although if it’d rained it would’ve been grim.

I said the exact same thing myself. Mind you, I was on the finish line at 10.15 this morning, so it’s been a long old day.

Great day out, loved it. Pulled out my best hill effort all season and couldn’t stand up for 5 minute at the top. Couldn’t have done it without the crowd. And my teammate won, on fixed, on a metal bike, by a huge margin. Stoked.

@The Sanity Assassin, I appreciated the catchers at the top! Thanks for giving up your time.

@dtf, bloody good ride by your mate!

Awesome stuff! The crowds were top notch; something about shouting names (even if they’re not the right ones) at people on bikes as loud as you can being oddly liberating/stress relieving.

Your team mate’s ride was a cracker; I saw him go past (was stood just up from where the lad with the trumpet was) and thought it was a strange choice of bike since most others were on gears. Although after seeing his TT bike; I thought there must be something in it.

Was chuffed with my mates ride; think he was pretty happy with it aswell. It was a good effort considering it’s been his first proper season of racing/training

Get the frame dipped in acid to remove any unnecessary paint or coating.

If he’s got time, look into unravelling each of the gear/brake cables and discarding half of the metal theads.

Tyre grip, with a sharp knife remove any unncessary grip. He’s going up hill so stability speed wise wont be an issue or fast cornering either.
