    Oh, go on then….

    My view:

    – separate thread every week, set on a Sunday night to allow for planning of rides.

    – MTG should set the theme as it was his idea originally, and pass it out to the forum when he runs out of ideas.

Yep, agree with Gilo – thread could be titled Weekend photo challenge, dated to avoid any confusion 😆 . Looking forward to next weeks’. I must admit that although my pics were rubbish, I enjoyed the urban ride and probably wouldn’t have gone further than the shops otherwise. Top idea! 😀

    a hour of bridges…………from a old bloke and his dog…. 8)

shit i know, but i have to work in a limited area for now….. 😉

OK, I’ll take this on and start a new thread every Sunday evening.
Feel free to make suggestions for the theme for the following weekend on the previous weeks thread so I don’t run out of ideas.
There’s been a couple of mentions of monuments, so I’ll go with that for next week.

    Okay.

It ‘bridges’ so therefore for the purposes of this thread it is a bridge. Except at all other times when it is a gangplank! Haarrrrr!

Some context and gratuitous shot of a really lovely boat which also has a fantastic bar onboard:

    However…

taking a few shots for this thread…

    A sudden gust…

    😳

    Salt water.

    And I’d like to add…*

…that as much as democracy is a worthy ideal, to save having ten different weekend photo callenge threads I reckon that MTG should be appointed tsar of the challenge. Monuments sounds good. I know one that is miles away from the sea.

    Ha ha ha ha 😆 . . . fantastic! . . . had to happen with a bridge challenge really. Hope it’s OK 😀

so next weekends picture challenge is monuments then? now to think of a route that has as many as possible! are there points for historical significance? 😆

Not today, but wanted to get involved 😀

Oooh, I’ve always wanted to be a tsar or a supremo.
Think of me as a benevolent dictator, I’ll try to start a new thread every week, but if ever I’m away for a weekend and haven’t posted by Sunday night, we can have a peasant uprising and someone else can take over for that week.

I like the lateral thinking with the gang plank.
I’m all for interpreting the challenge loosely and using your imagination to get a more interesting picture.
I’ve heard Clifton Suspension Bridge described as a monument to Brunel, high ground wrecks could be considered as monuments to the aircrew who dies in them, even if they are not officially dedicated as such, and then there’s those blue plaques all over the place.

surely the boat one has a double meaning – it’s close to the boat’s bridge! 🙂

i never made it out this weekend for the challenge, but hope to next week for something *ahem* monumental!

is this a double wammy, or is that just a sign and a bridge?

    What a great thread!

I have been off the bike for so long, save for a few “same old” local rides. Seeing all the different locations makes me want to go out and explore again .

got to get fit. Got to get out. Got to take pictures 🙂

I’ve heard Clifton Suspension Bridge described as a monument to Brunel

Does that mean I’ve already done mine for next week then? 🙂

I was working over the weekend so mine is today and tomorrow 🙂

Nearly managed to wreck me and the bike taking this shot – I jammed the back wheel in a gap between the sleepers, scrambled down the bank and the bike promptly fell over, off the back of the bridge and down the gully aaaaargh!! When I managed to extract it I found the chain had come off and managed to wedge itself behind the granny ring – much tugging and swearing ensued – thank god for my Gerber pliers – and all was well.

The most beautiful place in the world – Corrieyairack Pass! And a rather nifty bridge too!
