1 bobbles – for hair (blame the daughters for that)
    2 grit – various grades
    3 pebbles – see #1
    4 sweetie wrappers – see #1
    5 buttons – various sizes
    6 polly pocket shoes – see #1

I’m sure there’s a link in all this but can’t quite put my finger on it.

12-18 month socks are a favourite.

My youngest is 4 years old now, I suspect Mrs B is struggling to move on.

I know a washing machine repair man who claims that his holidays are paid for by fishing bra wires and pads out of filters

    Large amounts of coins
    Several hair clips
    Many hair bobbles
    Lego (individual bricks and creations)
    Wool (killed a pump)
    Sundry tiny toys
An 8mm spanner (that was my only contribution to the ongoing catalogue of washing machine detritus)

Not helped by the fact that Ariston think it’s funny to design washing machines that the filter has to be accessed from the back, by undoing a big plastic clip on a rubber gaiter directly attached to the bottom of the drum. Dumb. Ass.

The gravely stuff is probably built up from scale in the water.

Gravel and hairclips and a coin or two nearly killed mine.

The usual stuff most of the time but the strangest was a tiny Xmas table dec cut out, of the words hoho. Mother had sprinkled them all over the table. One made its way into the machine in April and jammed the little impeller/lift pump thingy!

I keep retrieving hair bands from mine. Def Leppard were in there the other day.

5 pence piece once. Sat perfectly over the suction for the pump but was suspended roughly a radius above it due to the fact the pipe was slightly tapered, causing it to act like a butterfly valve.

Caused about a weeks worth of head scratching before we finally figured it out.

The present machine doesn’t have a filter, god knows where it went but it was like that when we inherited it 5 years ago and hasn’t ever been a problem *touch wood*.

Fully intact wooden lolly pop stick is my record. Along with the usual hairbands and a few screws/ coins.

Having spent most of Saturday completely dismantling our washing machine for a problem caused by a broken drum paddle, (and then subsequently finding I could have sorted it by removing the element, which is a five minute job! 😥 ) I discovered our filter attached to the bottom of the machine at the back.
So I cleaned it out for the first time in 4 years, I’m amazed it actually managed to pump anything away at all!
    The contents were,
    2 x 50p
    2 x 20p
    1x 10p
And 2 partially dissolved penny’s along with what I think used to be a 5p,
    2 x baby’s socks,
    2 plastic floss sticks
    1 hair grip,
    1 circlip,
    1 plastic plant identification stake,
    1 bent key.
Still in the plastic tub was the ripped off sleeve cuff which in turn had ripped off some plastic from the outer tub, thankfully not damaging it beyond repair!
