Im looking at getting something like a kombi type van but struggling to determine what is a fair market price for one since there seems to be a much larger range in values than I see when buying a car.

Any tips or tools for this (like parkers) or simply research and keep a track of them -noting those that sell and those that don’t.

Pick the model you want, and follow a few on Autotrader for a couple of weeks. All vans are over priced at the mo particularly VW’s, so don’t expect a bargain.

Look at private sale asking prices along with trade prices, factor in things like service history and mileage and get a feel for what’s reasonable or not.

A lot of dealers are still asking big money for vans, despite prices dropping significantly in the last 6 months or so.

Condition varies massively with vans, knackered builder’s van or mega-miles courier van to rarely used bike transporter. You don’t seem to get the same variation with cars so age/miles seems to correlate more to price with them than it does with vans

With the imminent arrival of the T7 there are good deals to be had on T6/T6.1 ATM, both used and new

Use the reg no to check webuyanyvan.com, that’s obviously trade or rock bottom so work out how much over that you are willing to pay.

Prices are all over the place, they have been for a few years.

As said above keep an eye on likely candidates for a few weeks, and watch what they sell for, eBay and market place are better for this.

I spent a few months around two years ago looking for my Vito, the good ones were getting snapped up immediately for strong money, so I knew there was going to be very little haggling when I found the right one.

12.5k for a 9 year old van, but two years on its been the best vehicle I’ve had.

Price shown with or without VAT makes a huge, (well, 20% difference) too.

Thanks. The number of different variables does make it quite a bit harder to find vans that tick the right boxes which is perhaps why they command a premium, since the result is there aren’t many ‘comparable’ vehicles.

12.5k for a 9 year old van sounds quite ‘cheap’ from what I can see of asking prices!

Depends on the context, I remember before everything went mental with brexit, covid, Ukraine and whatever else that was the going rate for a pre-registered Vivaro/Traffic

    Context being current asking prices!

Over priced – dont expect a bargain – doesn’t compute.

    Surely over priced wont sell?

Asking as I want to sell a T5 and haven’t a clue where prices are!
