    Hi,

    Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what can be done here (if anything)….

    I recieved a tuin charlie cabin back in June. Intention is to use it as a bike workshop. I started building it up at the beginning of July and noticed that I had been sent an incorrect door (they sent me two of the same so required a slave door). I got in touch and was told 6-8 weeks as it had to come from Holland. Annoying a bit but fair enough. That time has been and gone and after chasing numerous times i’m now told I have to wait until the end of October before I’ll get it. This will be 16 weeks!

    I’ve not been using the cabin all summer as i’ve been waiting on the door to arrive. I feel so annoyed about it and although they are good on customer service, they have made a number of errors (incorrect eaves blocks, damaged pieces).

    Is there anything I can do or do I just have to suck it up? 🙂

    You could try to speed them up with threats of legal action. They may be at the mercy of their suppliers so can’t do much but they might be waiting on a bigger order to ship stuff over. I’d maybe start with a sterner reply saying end of Oct isn’t good enough and can they do better.

    I’d also look at practical solutions. Can the incorrect door be modified to work, at least in the short term?

    Not the experience I had a few years ago with ours – which was ordered in the UK and fulfilled direct from the Netherlands by gentlemen in clogs. The time delay may well be related to, ahem, taking back control and all that. But I’d definitely be on the phone to them asking what on earth was going on at this stage.

    They were pretty good with ours, we had a few bits missing and they turned up the following week.  That was three or four years ago now though

    Re the door – presume you can’t use the supplied door as the handle/hinges is on the wrong side?  It is a pretty straightforward job to drill out the door and swap over.  If you are painting the door anyway you can easily fill the old holes with dowel / blank and filler and it would virtually be invisible.  Yes, not what you should be doing, but if the alternative is to have a shed with no door for months I’d give it a go.

    Or, if its a double door, just completely removed the furniture and screw it to the frame until the replacement arrives.  So you will have one working door.  Again not ideal but solves the problem
