The screen on one of my old laptops has just died and I need to get some files off the hdd.

Is there not a transfer cable (and application) that can link the laptop to another machine and allow you to drag across whatever you need?

    Cheers in advance

Plug a screen in the back?

Take the HDD out and use a USB HHD case / caddy / whatever their called (effectively makes a USB external drive)?

    edit: too slow again
