Orange is a good one, Enigma maybe too small to be in the top?
Raleigh I’m pretty sure overseas owned now.

I was going to say that too but thought I’d better check, appears they are really are British and part of quite a group:

    Tandem Group Cycles
The Falcon Cycles division designs, manufactures and distributes bicycles and bicycle accessories under the Boss, Claud Butler, CBR, British Eagle, Elswick, Exile, Falcon Cycles, Holdsworth, Scorpion, Stinky Bitz and Townsend brands.
The Dawes Cycles division designs, manufactures and distributes bicycles and bicycle accessories under the Barrosa, Dawes and Dirty brands.

With regard to Islabikes comment above, aren’t pretty much all of the UK bike manufacturers getting their frames made in the Far East (I know this doesn’t apply to Orange and a few others)? Perhaps we should clarify whether the OP meant bikes produced by a comapany registered as UK business (regardless of provenance of actual bikes) or a UK company that manufactures the frames here (given that most of the parts – with a few honourable exceptions – are manufactured in the Far East).
With regard to Genesis they are most certainly owned by Madison (who import Shimano into the UK). Their website even has Ts&Cs that refer to Madison, not Genesis

If you are talking UK owned brands then Saracen and Ridgeback shift a few bikes in a year. Companies like Orange may sell a larger number to STW folk but the volume comes in a rather different part of the market. How many kids bikes do you think get bought annually in the UK?

Brompton is a clear front runner 😀 designed and manufactured in Kew and sold in good numbers in this country or overseas. highly respected

nothing comes even remotly close to them.

    but if we’re talking mtbs……. ❓

If you mean Top 5 as in the volume of sales and turnover, then On One wouldn’t appear in the Top 5.

When you consider that Halfords sell 1 in 3 bikes, you will probably find that most of their brands are in the Top 5 (Trax, Apollo, Carrera and Boardman)

Brompton will probably be in there with 27,000 sales and £13,000,000 in turnover in their last financial year.

Some of the Tandem Group brands (£35m turnover per year) may also sit in the Top 5, especially when you consider that they make so many supermarket specials and Toys R Us BSO’s (Barrosa, Boss, British Eagle, CBR, Claud Butler, Dawes Dirty Elswick, Falcon, Holdsworth, Optima, Scorpion and Townsend). That’s before you start counting their kids brands (Fireman Sam, Ben and Holly, Ben 10 etc etc)

I would think that the brands STW lifers consider (On One, Planet X, Ribble, Orange, Islabikes, Genesis, Cotic etc etc) wouldn’t get anywhere near the Top 5. I think I read somewhere (A few years ago) that Orange’s turnover was around £2m per year. Although I don’t know if that is correct!
