Hi,

Does anyone use the about carrier?

Just wondering if anyone knows if it'll fit square, non Thule roof bars?

Also, how secure is your bike when using the 20mm adaptor?

I've checked the Thule website but it isn't 100% clear.

Cheers folks.

I'd check your forks warranty. I remember reading the manual for my DT Swiss forks and the warranty was void if you used this method to carry your bike.

They should fit the square bars, the bike carriers and to be honest all Thule products come with the option of brackets for square bars and the 'slide in' areo bars.

Cheers,

I currently use the bog standard Thule carriers but find that when your bike is dirty the clamp can mark your frame, so I'm looking for alternatives.

My current Thule racks came with the adaptors so was hoping it would be the case with these.

Cheers,

Use a damp cloth (or your sweaty shirt) to wipe of the bit of frame where the clamp sits?

Works for me when I'm feeling a bit precious about my bikes (not often)!

Alaric.

I have 561s; they definitely come with square bar fittings.

The Thule 20mm adaptor involves removing the QR clamp and replacing it with a 20mm tube which is a bit of a faff if you ever want to go back. Fork-Up adaptors are a better solution I think - they clamp into the existing QR on the mount and then the bike goes onto the adaptor; seem very secure and means you can use for road bikes with QRs, 15 or 20mm forks without taking the carrier to bits.

This is the 20mm one:

Main downside is that the bike doesn't lock on any more, but the Thule locks are so flimsy I always put a cable lock on anyway if the bike is out of sight on the car.
