had a long weekend of putting the “mountain” back into mountainbiking with two old friends.

both had upgraded to 1×11. it looked like quite a slick set up and they didn’t drop the chain once despite lack of chain gaurd (both with narrow/wide chain rings)

i currently run 2×10 on both mine and the GF’s bikes. having last yer forked out for new shifters and cranks i’m reluctant to fork out again for 1×11.

i have seen there are cassettes available (SunRace) with 42 sprockets. that might be a cheaper and practical alternative.

riding here is generally winch up for few hours, bit of a carry and then 1000hm descent. not worried about spinning out on the downs, but current 24 front/36 rear leaves me spinning out too quickly.
