Escaped for a jaunt from the SE London to the South Downs with a mate

Set off mid afternoon yesterday and after pub dinner, arrived at the top in the dark to set up bivvies. This morning’s photos:

The planned half way cafe stop was closed, eventually stopped half an hour from home, had earned this :)

Escaped to the back garden for an hour leaving the kids on screen time while OH working at the market.2023-09-30-hop

Barely made this. Was a battle of nerves/physical tension etc.

Went out for a local loop in the rain. No pics, but got a mouthful of Chatsworth sheep poo and completely covered in mud, had a pint in Bakewell then the return leg, hosed ourselves down at the local with more beer involved. Took this pic just before the ride in the park next to our gaff walking the FiL’s dog (phone pic)

The slop has arrived! Still fun though once you embrace the lack of grip, and Blazin Saddles bike wash came in very handy.

No Gnar, but quite far – about 50km of big skies in the Suffolk countryside.

Very wet, pretty classic “off piste” corris side dyfi loop, although did find a new to us trail as well – quite boggy but should be good in the dry.

These markers weren’t there last time i rode dyfi either, never seen markers for off piste before.
