Just got round to watching Orbital from yesterday – blooming brilliant.

Proper nostalgia with some of the tracks (Satan, Chime)

But my fave has to be Spicy

Proper crowd pleasing set, yet still surprising. Loved it.

does anyone know what SZA is representing here? Lap dancing aliens, Tinkerbell halfway up a vaguely phallic tree….. modern music nowadays, cah!

What’s wrong with four kids in daft tight skinny jeans walking on, plugging in their guitar leads and making a racket for an hour.

Saw the first 30 seconds of SZA. Looked like a half empty field. Not really what you want for the Pyramid headliner!

For a closing set on the West Holt stage Justice have “really knocked it out the park”, I’ve never seen it so ram packed, it’s squashed right up to the stalls at the back.

    Nice touch at the end

Right….now that it’s over I’ll have a rewatch of Jamie xx, and capture the audio as it’d be a shame to waste it.

Think it’s my fav of the weekend,

There’s a 2024 Glastonbury playlist on Spotify, if anyone is interested.

    Justice were amazing!

We’re just watching the Streets set. Absolutely bloody brilliant!  I didn’t think I could love Mike Skinner more, but launching into War Pigs by Sabbath? Genius! 😃

Tip for watching on BBC iPlayer – Go into categories > music > Glastonbury 24 to find all broadcasts

James – a fantastic little set. I’ve seen them many times over the years but this incarnation is the best, and their new album is excellent too.

Missus had a great position for James….Her favourite set though was The K’s.

Orbital were just getting into the Brown album stuff on Saturday night when my guest wanted to switch over to Coldplay, sadly. They have a few catchy numbers and a great lightshow/fireworks, but it felt very much like it was a Coldplay show rather than a Glasto set IYKWIM.

Jungle were my fave set so far (I have some catching up to do), wasn’t aware of them before but love their live house/soul/funk mashup sound. Would love to see them live.

Couldn’t decide on Justice, bits were great but overall their music is a bit bangy, jump-up-and-downy electro that I wasn’t that keen on in 2008 anyway (compared to say Digitalism).

Loved Barry Can’t Swim and his enthusiasm, as well as what he’s does with house music.

Dua Lipa was generic and forgettable.

Enjoyed Dexys, Two Door Cinema Club, NewDad and Jamie XX.

    (excuse bandwagon  jumping)

    FLYNN!

    Idles, end of thread.

Orbital looked exactly like they did in the 1990s. Enjojyable enough  I guess. Nostalgia isn’t what it was.

Dua Lipa was well, just… boring. Yadda yadda dancers blah blah well rehearsed yadda yadda whatever.

    LCD SS were good.

Might check out Little Simz? Burna Boy? Justice? The Streets?

Flynn also popped up in the Coldplay crowd, he had a good weekend by the looks of it 😂

I loved LCD Soundsystem on Friday and the PJ Harvey set sounded amazing on 6 music this morning, need to check it on iplayer.

The only set I’ve watched in full so far is IDLES and although not the biggest fan the sound blew me away.  I’m sure its a thing that the Other Stage has the biggest sound?  Anyway, the sound mixing was one of the best I’d heard. Drums and cut glass guitar especially

Fontaines DC didn’t sound nearly as powerful on the Park Stage with vocals way down in the mix.

I need to spend a good bit of time on iplayer before its taken off

I started watching Idles, but the second song was a bit crap so I switched over. Perhaps I need to give them another go.

re coldplay, I absolutely hate their music and wouldn’t go near their set but I remember their tribute to Viola Beach at their last headline set (2016?) and it was really touching to be fair.  I just thought that most bands wouldn’t have gone there for ‘cool’ reasons.  Cant imagine Liam gallagher doing a tribute like that. But, yeah, still can’t stand them 🙂  Its the middle classness and unit shifting as well as the dullness

    Idles great.

Couldn’t listen to the Orbital set all the way through. Tilda Swinton what was that about!?!

Otoboke Beaver’s guitarist baiting the crowd with Woo Hoo by the 5678s was funny. Doubt it’s the first time she’s tried that. Very good set.

On my way back from Glastonbury and had a great time that went a bit like this…

    • Squeeze
    • Bar-Stewards of Val Doonican (chatted to the vocalist after)
    • Paul Heaton
    • PJ Harvey
    • LCD Soundsystem
    • Fontaines D.C.
    • Cyndi Lauper (briefly)
    • Last Dinner Party
    • Fat White Family
    • Kasabian
    • Camila Cabello
    • The Streets
    • Newton Faulkner
    • New Model Army
    • The Zutons
    • Soft Play
    • James
    • Nothing But Thieves
    • Avril Lavigne
    • Burna Boy
    • SZA

I enjoyed all of it (Fontaines and NMA being particular highlights) up until Burna Boy and SZA – I went to the Pyramid to get a good spot for SZA as I like her stuff so suffered Burna Boy, but it was awful – the place was dead but I thought I’d tough it out in the hope it would pick up but nope – so disappointing.

The highlight for me was getting right to the very front (ie, on the barrier – the close-up cameraman kept avoiding the old bloke and concentrated on the pretty girls around me 😹) for PJ Harvey and LCD Soundsystem.

    I’ll sleep well tonight…

    NMA…fair play, amazing band.

It was amazing – whilst 150,000 people were watching Coldplay, I was with about 150 people jumping around to NMA – how they never got bigger than they did, I’ll never know, but they were as tight as anything and it was great to be so close up to them.

Not seen them since Marshall left, but have been watching them since 1989…most of my tattoos are NMA related. Glad they smashed it, and sounds like you packed a lot I to your weekend!

    Didn’t know NMA were playing.
I saw them at Reading must have been in the very early nineties.
My only and rubbish mistake tattoo was based around the Thunder and Consolation artwork. 😂

    Bloc Party are great.

Coldplay effortlessly pleasing the masses … me included  (staged making up of ditties about crowd plants not with standing)

IDLES …. Inspired me to listen to their new album yesterday, cant remember the last time I ever listened to a full album !!  It was good, I like the direction they are headed but hope they don’t sell out.

    Fontaines… agreed

PJ … she’s still got it

    Soft Play .. for sh1t5 n giggles.

looking forward to watching some more

They were really good, but for added extra sh1t5 n giggles hunt out the Fat White Family set 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 I have never experienced anything quite like them.

    Bar Italia.

I think I’ve only heard one of their songs (second one in their set) on Six Music before.

Really like them. Kind of a raw lo-fi sound. Reminds me of Eric’s Trip and the like.
