I use unsweetened almond milk on my breakfast cereal, to avoid the absolute certainty of being killed to death by cow’s milk every time I eat breakfast …

Solo – Is Green Tea allowed on the iDiet? Can I replace my water with it? Ta.

A lot of people seem to be quite defensive when it comes to milk consumption. Just because your mums served you cows (or other non-human) milk doesn’t mean it is good for you.

If I’m coming across as “defensive” that wasn’t my intention, I’m bored at work (IT middle management for you) and reading ridiculous statements about how milk is bad for you seemed the perfect starting point for an argument.

Incidentally, most government guidelines indicate that some milk consumption is a good idea.

I assume this was lobbied for by the large amount of dairy farmers 😉

This thread was more interesting with Solo bashing round the head with the rules of mammalian milk consumption

I’m happy eating cows and don’t see that drinking their juice is somehow worse.

Doctors go on about it, too. They can’t all be lobbied by the dairy farmers… can they???

Do you make bolognese properly.. with milk and white wine.

If not, try it, fill yourself full of Win.

NHS doctors are employed by the Govt & are therefore obliged to spout whatever the latest ‘Govt Guidelines’ say, regardless of whether they think it’s correct * … gotta toe the party line and all that.

It’s not rocket surgery is it.

Sorry for the tangent, but that proper gave me the giggles, that did. I’m going to drop it into conversation next time I’m trying to get a point across and see if anyone notices.

I didn’t see it but I’m going to watch it tonight, might be interesting. I’m off to see a Nutrition Therapist next week to try and resolve all my various aches and pains/illnesses and primarily my SAD which will start creeping in now pretty quickly with the darkness setting in 🙁 sob sob.

p.s. you lot really can argue about ANYTHING. 😯

It really should have been condensed into a half hour programme but, nevertheless, there’s always things to learn.

emma – good luck with getting sorted. Just make sure you don’t get referred to a GP who wants to dole out ad’s. Think you’ll find though that there’s a few on here who suffer with SAD.

Thanks CG, the main thing is I know I get it now which for a few years I did and it used to cause all sorts of problems. At least I can attempt to keep on top of it now I know what it is 🙂

Going to have a watch on 4oD in a bit so mayb I can join in the arguments afterwards 🙂

    Hi emma82,

my wife gets SAD and has been on some ADs for < 6 months, but she is having problems coming off and having to come off more slowly.

When she first came off and before the withdrawal problems I persuaded her to go to a nutritionist who got her eating a lot more protein and less carbs.

She felt the benefits of the diet pretty quick (also felt the effects of coming off the ADs pretty quick).

So hopefully you will see similar benefits.

For the SAD as well maybe you should find something to do in the dark that you look forward to, like night riding maybe. Then you have something to look forward to as the nights close in.

I like milk and cheese. If solo doesn’t like it, I really couldn’t give a shit.

    really…Life, get one.

em82, good luck with getting your SAD sorted, sounds awful 🙁

Thanks turnerguy, I’m hoping the nutritionist will give me a bit of direction, I am literally crap with food even when I think I’m being good. Last year was the worst I’ve ever been with SAD, but was determined to not go down AD route and I’m glad I didn’t really.

Cheers emz! I also like milk and cheese, especially really stinking French cheese. Preferably washed down with baguettes and red wine 🙄
