We will be in touch
I recently went on the 7-day frame building course at The Bicycle Academy and had an amazing time. For those of you who might be considering doing something similar or who are just interested in what's involved I've written a blog post about my experience here:

That's a great write up, really interesting and inspiring. I'd love to see the frame built up and hear how it rides.
i really enjoyed your blog too, well done!
Would love to treat myself to one of these. I liked the look of the course Chipps took too. I will check out your write up. Ta.
Just read that Oliver and continued into the Girder fork and beyond!
Bookmarked your page now, well worth a read guys, a very impressive and fascinating blog mate!👍
Love the frame by the way, must be such a buzz to have made that and then ride it when all built.
Hey Oliver, It was nice to meet you and I'm glad you enjoyed your course. We get a lot of different types of frames built, but I'm really looking forward to seeing yours built up!
John
Thanks John. As hopefully my blog makes clear, I had a great time on the course. As soon as the bike is built-up (it's currently at the powder coaters) I'll get some photos over to you all.
Oli
Thanks mangoridebike. As soon as the bike is finished I'll stick some photos on the forum.
I would love to do that course. Finances don't allow at the mo sadly.
Hi poopscoop - fingers crossed it'll be great to ride! I'm taking a bit of a punt with the geometry so it could go one of two ways. I suspect I'll know instantly whether my musings have been inspired or misguided!
As always a nice write-up Oliver.
I see you've gone for smooth fillets rather than the stack of coins / bronze welding style that they used to teach. Was that at your request or do they still teach both methods? Maybe the Tom Ritchey influence 🙂
Also a nice update on the 32h Sturmey hub.
Look forward to hearing how it rides, and looks once painted and built up.
Such a shame Bicycle Academy don't do wheel building courses.
Hi mick_r. The aim was definitely for a finish that was at the 'stack of coins' end of the spectrum. However, firstly, it was really difficult to get a decent photo on my phone of a shiny fillet, so there's probably a little less definition than in reality. Secondly, and most significantly, my first attempt at brazing was a bit too hot, so the fillet ended up with less definition than intended. The fillets on my actual frame were significantly better. It's amazing how quickly the guys at TBA can get you to improve.
Excellent write up, enjoyed reading that.
Known Andrew for a good few years, he really is a singularly driven bloke, amazed at what he's built up with TBA. Occasionally bump into students who've travelled from far flung places, so word must be spreading
