I started the weekend yesterday afternoon due to this mornings forecast, lazy morning and an afternoon in the pub today.

XC ride with Mrsstu to meet some friends for lunch.

Still turned into a 1000 meter 50 KM ride despite just going to the cafe.

Wonder if this will work as  a pic  (nope, didn’t) – yesterday was great off-road, looked like riding in Wales, but rode to Tarbes and back for lunch due to the forecast and an achy knee.

Don’t think this is a ‘named storm’, but we do have a ‘danger to life’ warning…… just had the first of the rain, thunder and lightning with a welcome drop in temperature from 30 C to 23 C in just a couple of hours.

I’m visiting relatives in North Yorkshire… Quick trip up the Dalby off piste this afternoon.

Bust a spoke which fired up through the rim tape. First puncture I’ve had to fix for aaaaaages!

Trails running fast and loose – they need a bit of rain!!!!

We didn’t take the bikes, but were camping on a cliffside spot on the West Coast of Wales near Cardigan

Friday night was bonkers, the noise was mental and we came very close to marching the kids up to the car to ride it out there

Water came in the tent from the seams as they got stretched and will need retaping, the lighter rain the next day it held fine

It was only a wooden picnic bench that we used to stop the front guy lines from tearing out the ground, think I got 2 hrs sleep

Gusts up to 55mph apparently, I’d not want to repeat that again

    weathers been lovely since

So #stormlillian made camping on the cliffside a bit fun last night, lovely this morning though

I now need a pipe straightener for steel tent poles

Also lost my beloved North Face flip flops, which are probably washed up on an Irish beach somewhere

Noooo, that’s flown by! I remember walking in to the new shop about a week after they opened on my lunch break and coming out with (back then really rare) an order for a wheel build and 29er tyres to collect the next week for my Niner.

Local bash on ebikes to get ahead of the worst of the weather. Met local boy who happens to be national enduro champion. He offered to follow us down persuaded him to lead. I kept up for the first corner then that was it.

    First of the season.

Cortina bike park in the Dolomites on Friday. Lovely flowing trails. We stuck to the blue and reds and had a great time.

No pics (meant to, but forgot!)

Lovely 4 hour ride around East Devon on the singlespeed MTB

I may have overdone it a bit as my knees are aching  58km and 1400m of ascent!

We had plenty of rain yesterday, but it was still mostly bone dry. Which was nice.

IMG_7294Few days bikepacking round Dartmoor. Very windy and often rainy with the occasional splodge of sunshine to lull you into a false sense of security so you don’t bail.
Also, every tor in Dartmoor must have a least 10 people camping around it every night over the Bank Holiday.

Second day in the Peak. Managed to dodge the crowds and the rain. Still windy but another great time on the trails

Struggling for motivation for the MTB at the moment. Got a thing for riding the gravel bike up steep calderdale lanes instead. Bit blowy today!

First time out on the bike after a couple of weeks of little exercise, booze and lots of rich food so took the ebike for a 26 miller round a local loop.

Blood thinners make a couple of bramble scratches interesting. It got worse than pictured

Waited the whole ride for my legs to turn up but I only bought up with them when I got home, they were still in bed it seems

Back in East Yorkshire after West Coast of Scotland hols. Quite a change in trail surface – from rivers to bone dry back home. Took the hardtail for a change, lots of walkers but dry and had some fun. Met up with the family in some woods and pulled a huuuge skid for the kids but my crank fell off! Cue long ride home with one crank…20240826_130901

    Lovely pics all, good work!

I haven’t been able to ride the last few months due to fatigue, so these threads are good for keeping the motivation up :)

Bank Holiday Monday jaunt from Hayfield to Hope to meet up with Mrs Noise and mooch round the Hope Show. Weirdly quiet on the hills but finally (thanks to Jedi) found Narnia (a bit steep in places innit?) – will be back there to explore a bit more for sure.
