My quite decent and bargain triathlon aquasphere wetsuit has died.

What do people reccomend please? Any bargains at the moment would be good.

I am not after anything for competing in, nor winter weight but must be good and supple for front crawl.

After a few years out of the game I have just done a weekend guiding blind swimmers and it felt so good to get back in.

My alpkit one has been really good.

Haven’t used it much though as I tend not to use a wetsuit anymore.  But when I do use one it is comfortable

Some Tesco’s and Go Outdoors have offers on at the moment, think it’s shops near water though as both in Caernarfon have them.

My local aldi had some in for much cheapness.  I didn’t look closely at them however

I’m over in Hathersage at the weekend doing an outdoor first aid. I’ll see if I can get time and pop in there.

We sure Tesco/Aldi are doing actual swimming wetsuits, rather than…wetsuit for messing about?

I’ve got an Alpkit Terrapin. Back in my  triathlon days I had some eyewateringly expensive and super delicate suits. The alpkit is not that, but I like it. It’s not quick, and it doesn’t pretend to be – but it actually feels good to swim in. Much more like the natural swim position in the water rather than the artificially elevated position a triathlon suit is designed to give. It’s proper swimmer flexible in the shoulders (though obviously not to the same level as a £700 mega suit) but it much tougher and hard wearing in the bottom half. If you just fancy going swimming and not going racing you could do worse.

Disclaimer – the vast majority of my swimming now is skins – the suit(s) only come out every now and then.

    Lomo?

Prime Triathlon and Swimming Wetsuit – Male

I don’t have one of their wetsuits but I know folk who do. I have their tri gloves and boots and have no complaints about them.

The lomo looks good but also sounds delicate like you mention convert. The other issue is sizing. I’m 183cm, 80kg. That makes me a x large by height or a medium tall by weight. I need to eat more!

I have the same issue with cycling clothing. It’s like I’m the only tall skinny cyclist

I have no idea.  You are perhaps correct.  Aldi stuff seems to vary from really good at a good price to complete useless tat.  I have no idea where the wetsuit lies on this scale 🙂

Anything in a supermarket is best described as a wetsuit shaped object.

It’s all about fit, find the brand who’s measurements you sit inside the best (ie smack in the middle of the size guide dimensions for that size) I would suggest, or try on.

In my experience and my friends, I would avoid HUUB, they either totally lose shape or tear if you look at them.

Currently using a 2XU which is beautiful, and has done the whole season really nicely so I think it’ll last well. Zone3 seem decent, as do the aqua sphere.

re: Fourth Element, I may be behind the times, but they used to only do non-neoprene wetsuits for people who are allergic to it.

I assume neoprene is the best material for those who aren’t allergic, but may be wrong.
