I am struggling to buy new chain rings for my SRAM 2x10 chainset. (26 / 39) It's middle range quality but it looks to be cheaper to replace the entire chainset (rings and cranks) with a brand new SLX set from Shimano.
I think it's a straight swap, hollow tech 2 fitting / Gxp. However I do have SRAM x5 shifters with a XT front mech. Will this be ok, or in true single track style, will it kill me?
Thanks. Happy New Year to All

You'll need to change the GXP bottom bracket for a hollowtech II one, but that should come with the SLX cranks if you buy them brand new (this assumes your frame has a standard threaded bottom bracket). And the shifter + front mech combination is fine.

+1 raisinhat, you'll need to change the bottom bracket too (can't just swap out a GXP crankset and stick in a hollowtech II crankset).

Not a problem if you've an external threaded BB but becomes a right pain in the behind if you've a press fit BB - you won't get a press fit BB included with the new cranks and will need to get the right one.

What's the problem with sourcing chainrings?

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah I will fit a hollow tech BB as std external threaded shell.
Stumpy. I cant get both rings for less than 90, new SLX is same price.
Thanks again.
