Was driving down the A1 at Leeming today and saw a stick of 10 parachutists pop out of the clouds and land on the airfield, dropping Bergens just before touching down. But surprised to see on a Sunday….do the TA do this?

Yep. Quite a few units do, not just para reg.

Indeed. Shocking. After all, everyone knows the Army only operate on a 9-5, Monday to Friday schedule.

    Hour off for lunch, obviously.

Well, no, but as for their sideways marching brethren who fly the planes… 😀

That’s simply not true about the army, But the RAF…. your lucky if they are still there at 4

Very little seems to go on at Dishforth, Leeming or Catterick on a weekend, as a casual observer….

parachutists pop out of the clouds

This always scares me. OK inside controlled airspace where you have a reasonable hope that there’s nothing below to hit, but inside a MATZ, shared or uncontrolled airspace where there could be anything below that you have no realistic chance of being able to see or avoid is just asking for trouble.

Not bad ninfan, there were actually 7 jumps to get your wings, not 5 but pretty accurate apart from that. I never got bickers tho.

Also, there must have been bloody low clouds – 650 ft is standard drop height.
