The dying art of the compilation tape… a mainstay of any crush romance.

One track each – and specify at which point in your battered C-90 you would include it.

Of formative importance to the Sugarhill Gang, the late Sylvia Robinson has good claim to being the Godmother of Hip-Hop. She was also responsible for the fabulous Pillow Talk – a Side B track, imo. And probably near the end.

Talking of Sylvia Robinson she was producer of this little funk gem, the lp also contains a pretty good cover of Boz Scagg’s Lowdown.

Very true. Every tape needs a theme.

“Dedicated to the attractive girl (or indeed, bloke) encountered in the cyclists’ box at the traffic lights. I wish I’d remonstrated about your use of barends with risers, but I was too shy.”

10 minutes is one of my favourite songs!

Hmm… I have to put journey to the end by Rancid in there.

Can’t do the youtube link buy you can’t beat starting a mix tape with either New Order – Blue Monday or Primal Scream – Loaded.

However, my mixtape track would be Cast – Beat Moma as it was playing when my now fiancee drunkenly approached me in a club for the first time and ask for a snog…
