I have no more bikes to buy, don’t want / can’t afford an e-bike, have no need / still can’t afford, a full suss, have no need for a fat bike

leaves me with my current collection of:

    gravel bike (Ragley Trig Purple)

12 speed hardtail (Identiti AKA Light Blue)

    rigid singlespeed (Surly 1×1 Green)

I love each of these bikes for their intended purposes…

    But…

I’ve recently been helping a friend find his new bike and having seen A LOT, I’ve REALLY come to like the look of a Raw / TI frames

Not being able to warrant a new bike, I’ve started looking at the Surly

the local powder coaters can / will strip a frame of its paint, they can also produce a fairly convincing raw / brushed aluminium / TI-esque finish

Got me wondering, if I stripped the paint and the frame underneath looked ok, job done! If the frame underneath looked a bit…pants, have it refinished.

the reasonable part of me says “get over it, you like the green, stick with the green, now go ride your bloody bike”

    WWSTWD?

I would never ever consider changing the colour of my bike. Which is minging by the way.  But life is far to short and full of opportunities to bother changing the colour of something.

TBH I still always suspect a troll when people post about decals, paintjobs etc.

Over to the other side for comment….

If you want it to look like titanium, it’ll have to be titanium. No silver finish will get close to the same lustre.

    Stick with the green.

but if, in the future, it needed refreshing, then have a good think about what you want.

however, in the meantime, go ride your bike, once you’re out there cranking like F you’ll not care about anything else.

    It’s obviously new bike time.

Having owned a steel bike lacquered for a raw finish (from factory)…. don’t do it. It will rust.

The green is cool. Save for the Ti bike.

I think you’re all right, it would just be a bad decision all round, plus the other part of me is / was thinking

raw frame = hope colours  = expensive experiment all round

    It’s obviously new bike time.

Do agree but I feel I’ve got all bases covered with what I already have, just can’t seem to find a valid reason for something else :-s

    Stick with the green

Realistically, this is the right answer really

have no need for a fat bike

Vanishingly few people on the planet have a NEED for one. But they’re fun and make you smile. That’s all the reason I needed.
