    hi
I ride a codeine with sram X11 crankset, I recently purchased an 1×11 narrow hope 34t chainring and dropped it at the LBS to swap it over. A day later I get a call telling me won’t fit ?, and need to get a sram one ?, never heard of this…..its a small shop but is this the case ? , after shelling out £40 notes is bad enough but I’m looking at another £55 for a sram one.

    Any help appreciated, as ever

    They’re right, funny that!

Insomuch as it won’t fit, the hope one will be 104mm bcd, and the X1 crank is 94mm bcd, Google away to find an appropriate chain ring, doesn’t have to be a SRAM as such

Yes it true sram spider only compatable to sram chainring, worth spending a bit more and put a different spider on then you can put any other chainring on in future as opposed to having to use sram only

Yes they are right not just trying to rip you off…

You can get a raceface direct mount one for £55 and remove the spider and save weight.

So is it possible to remove the spider on a SRAM XO1 crank to enable direct mounts to fi? If so how does the spider come off?? Ta
