    Morning all,

I’d like to change from the standard chainring that came with my On One Free Rangerbike, to an oval as I prefer the ride feel. I seem to be better having trouble finding one that fits the SRAM Force crank with 5 bolt fittings as they seem to all have a direct mount style fitment.

Now I might be missing something glaringly obvious here as I’m a little sleep deprived post nights and more familiar with Shimano MTB cranks.

So my question is does the 5 bolt crank have a removable spider to allow for a direct mount chainring or can you pint me in the direction of a 42t oval 5 bolt ring please?

Assuming that it’s of similar design to my 3ish year old Sram Force cranks (also on a P-X bike), yes. You should have three torx bolts holding the spider onto the crank next to the bottom bracket spindle.

I now run a Absolute Black oval chainring where the spider / 5 bolt ring previously were.

42t 110bcd oval chainring. I got slightly muddled about the timing being correct because of the bolt behind the crank but then realised that it’s just 180 degrees out. You just mount the indicator tab opposite the other crank arm instead.

Was about to recommend Garbaruk, but I have a superstar 40t (round) ring on another bike, and I’d say the above looks unbeatable with 35% off

Thank @toby, there are indeed 3 torx bolts.

I’m a bit of a Garbaruk man so will get one ordered up 🙂
