What tends to happen when the solicitor sho has been working on your case leaves their job half way through?

Should be picked up by one of their colleagues. If they are worth their money then there will be case notes to go with it anyway.

    What somouk says.

you have instructed the firm they work for, so the work stays with this firm. They’ll just allocate to someone else. the file should have all the info the new lawyer needs to pick it up. Make sure they don;t charge you for any handover time or time spent getting the new person up to speed.

Or you can choose to ask the solicitor’s new firm if they will take the matter on with the same person handling it. But this doesn’t happen that much any more.

Either way, it’s up to you.

They should have left full case notes for another solicitor to pick up. This shouldn’t cost you any extra but it might. Heads up as the new solicitor could be better.

Turns out that the boss of the firm has taken it on.
