Meant to take pictures tonight but I had training today and didn’t get home in enough time/daylight.

Not really that much more to add to the Cotic pics already posted (it being my bike an all). Unless there’s something specific?

    @ adsh, I’m 178/ 5’10” and perfectly happy on a medium Mk1 with 50mm stem, 760mm bars & 125mm Lev. I wouldn’t want any bigger, it’d be a gate like my old 20″ Inbred was. You really sure a M won’t fit?

I’m a bit sad about the Champagne being metallic tbh. The first pictures made it look like a flat vintage white which would have been lovely. I might be out of step with the world, but I really don’t like the Fast Red or bright Yellow… and not that keen on black bikes either. But then I’ve got Cotics in Orange, Green, Duckegg and the flat pure process Blue that the early Soul275s came in …

Didn’t mean to be so black – will be swapping callipers to black too…

that Black n Orange is nice. I mean they’re all nice but that’s the one I’d have.

Yerp, XL. It looks right in ‘comfy shoes’ too (new plus wheels due today 😀 )

First ride yesterday and it felt great from the off. I ‘may’ have to go to a 70mm stem – some oversteer on hairpin climbs. I like the 90mm ( 😯 ) otherwise. Forks are 120mm SIDs.

You’re obviously very tall, but even with a 70mm stem on my Large MK2 the steering isn’t the fastest, and that’s with a 100mm fork……..

boxelder, how tall are you if you don’t mind me asking?

I’m looking at one of these or a Sherpa for a future build and at 6’5 I’m normally on xxl’s/22-23″ frames. Trying to figure out if I could make one of these work for me.

    Cheers.

I’m a leggy 6’4″. I’d say you’d have no trouble. I ride an XXL Santa Cruz and a 60-62cm dropper bike.

I’m glad that people are liking these, but it’s a shame that they don’t do the Solaris in colour anymore

Could you run 2.6s on one of these or would the bottom bracket be too low then?

I found the bottom bracket lower than my mk1 and even with only 170mm cranks and 2.8″ rear tyre I was clipping the ruts in places…

Don’t disagree but black makes it much easier to stealth tape with electrical/gorilla tape…

Also, it all ends up looking mud coloured anyways… 😆

2.6 would be fine, they don’t have a terribly low BB – the drop is about the same on my standard 27.5 hardtail.

Here are some bb drops to compare. It looks to me like there are three classes of bike now. I really like the Solaris Max and I’m sure it will ride well, just like the Souls I’ve had before. The bb drop just looks a bit low to run 2.6s to me. My transmitter feels low enough at 42mm.

    27.5
    Cotic Soul = 33mm
    Stif Morf = 42mm

    27.5/27.5+
    Sonder Transmitter = 42mm
    Stanton Slackline NG = 48mm

    27.5+/29
    Stanton Sherpa NG = 50mm
    Cotic Solaris Max = 52mm
    Pace rc127+ = 56mm

You aren’t comparing like with like because Cotic quote their geometry sagged, Stanton appears to be at random A-C length, whilst everyone else quotes it static. My Bird Zero AM has a 45mm BB drop static, 60mm sagged – I run 27.5×2.3ish tyres.

    Good point.

now I’m really confused. Why would you quote it sagged, everyones sag will be different.

It allows you to more accurately compare the angles and reach vs full-sus bikes – though obviously the BB heights can’t be compared because full-sus are always quoted static but at sag the BB height is vastly lower (even though the rest barely changes).

I think Brant probably started it! brant, Brant. BRANT?!!

I saw that thing about sagged HA on the Cotic site the other day.

Good news if it means they are less steep than other HTs while in the saddle, but why not also provide the unsagged figure and explain that it can be used to benchmark against other HTs?

I don’t think I started it, but it just seemed to make sense. I design around a sagged ride height, and that made more sense to me than when it was topped out.

Topped out only makes sense if you have no friends and need to measure your own bike against a garage door with an iPhone.

At 52mm, it’s the same as my Pact. And there were some VERY deep ruts over the weekend.

Gruddamn you Cy! You make amazing bikes but why not stick a bottle mount underneath the down tube?

Even these guys have clued in to that act 🙁
