The eldest has a birthday coming up and she’d like a smart watch. Basically something to count steps, but it would be nice to have other functions. She doesn’t have a phone and won’t be having one in the near future.

I’ve spotted the Fitbit Ace 3, we’d like something a little cheaper to start with.

What recommendations the STW massive could make?

Huawei or Xiaomi basic smart watch should work

Do you mean a smart watch? The smart part is pretty much designed to work with a phone. Sounds like you want a fitness watch.

Wife has a Garmin 45s. Bought second hand but pretty much as new, quite cheaply. Does steps as well as tracking and other fitness things. Nice and compact so should suit a child.

Garmin do a kids range that will sync with your phone and have a separate account from your own. For my daughter I bought a Samsung Fit E and a cheap phone that was just for showing the metrics. She’s had it a few years and it’s been great.

Yeah, more of a fitness watch.

Hopefully something suitable for small (8 year old girl) wrists around £30/35.

    Bonus points for teal/turquoise.

    Vivofit jr 2?

    Here

Does connect to your phone if you want, for syncing steps, but it’s not needed at all

@breadcrumb lol my fault trying to shorten the link to avoid the forum turning it into a kindle thing and multitasking. Try This

There’s also a 3, which is more. You can change the straps to whatever you want, we bought a “fake” one for our kid in the colour he wanted

All the kids specific ones seemed v expensive. We got my 8 yo the cheapest Xiaomi which is linked to my wife’s phone. For something pretty cheap it does an impressive amount.
