Prepared bike and gear for a big ride this morning, early night. Woke up and somehow I’ve pulled a muscle in my back so ride cancelled.

Don’t remember having any dreams I was fighting a cave troll so causes these twists and sprains when asleep?

Ex-collegue of mine fell out of bed while dreaming he was jumping off a sinking ship, caught his arm in the headboard rails and broke it. He was constantly stressed that the company was going under!

    OP.

No idea what you have done, but you made me think of the opening scene in KillingEve where she wakes up screaming after sleeping on her arm all night, much hilario, so thanks for that. 🙂

Did a nice zone 2 yesterday on the indoor bike ( heavy rain outside), swim and some gym work. Deadlifts. Early night, no alcohol. Woke up in agony.

Think I’ll go back to my normal prep; an evening down the pub.

A lot of people die in their sleep… not really an injury, but you’d probably not make the group ride.

Trapped a nerve in my neck having a snooze. Months of not being able to ride as a result…

I have, multiple times, experienced severe cramp in my calfs during a sleepy, early morning stretch but I also managed to “pop” a shoulder once.

I once woke up for my milk round when I was 15, having slept on both my arms. They wouldn’t work and my Mum came into my bedroom to find me flapping with my hands, whilst getting increasingly panicked, to turn my alarm off. I had the worst pins and needles when the blood rushed back in to them. I genuinely thought I was paralysed.

Then there’s the wake up and your neck has gone pop and you’re walking around like a robot. Although I found going out on a 60 mile ride pretty much cured it.

Probably more common than you think

I dreamed I fell down a hole in the road, jolted myself awake so hard I put my back out

Fell out of bed at school, early on in my “sentence”. It was a top bunk, a bit bruised but long term it got me singled out for “special treatment” for the year or two afterwards.  Remember the panicked adults very well – they screwed up badly in duty of care.

I very much recognise this exquisitely painful way to start the day!

Nothing serious, just the neck thing mentioned earlier. Spend the day like a robot and makes riding to work interesting when you can’t really perform am over the shoulder check.

    Did she buy it?

Bed spring piercing my left buttock when I turned over in bed creating rather a lot of blood. I was at primary school at the time, but still have the scar.
