Anyone know how much SKY F1 will be as a standalone channel on Virgin?. I dont bother with the other Sprts packages etc.

Watch MotoGP on Eurosport instead…unless you wanted to fall asleep in front of the TV every other Sunday afternoon 😉

^^ I’m going to miss my Sunday afternoon nap. Any suggestions for an alternative to F1 for inducing sleep?

There’s got to be a televised cycle race of some description most weekends – I would have thought

Well on the basis that the racing was better in F1 in 2011 than in MotoGP…

Anyway, as above Sky are keeping their HD F1 channel for Sky subscribers.

I think you can get it if you take out a movies subscription too. But as above you can’t get it on its own.

The commentaries on Radio5 are good once you get used to the idea.

I now find I get more understanding of a football match by listening to the radio than by watching TV when the commentary is just a list of names with the odd Oooh and Aaah thrown in.

I think BBC are showing 8 races live and the rest as extended highlights but not sure how many hours they have to delay it by.

    Without David Croft for 2012

we’ll have to see how James Allen gets on

‘fraid not, you need to take the full Sky Sports package @£22.50/month

You just need to have Sky plus the HD subscription to get the F1 Channel or Sky and the sports package

nealy – BBC have 10 races live.
Liftman – yes that’s true on Sky but not for Virgin subscribers – seems that Sky are keeping the price high to lure people off Virgin. Similarly they’ve not said anything about making it available via BT Vision yet.

As for the Beeb’s non live races – for the early morning races there’s a 2 hour show at 2pm on Sundays, so given that I’d normally have recorded them and watched them later that’s no big deal. For the European ones it’s a 90 min show on at 5.30 on Sunday night.

Qualifying is similar, 75 mins at 1pm on Saturday for the early morning sessions, 5.30 for the European GPs.

Bit daft though not offering it up as a standalone channel across the board, that would surely have a large take up increasing their profits. Otherwise a lot of folk are just going to be like me and think stuff ’em.

When you think about it, VM want you to fork out an extra £27 per race to see them all live

Not going to happen in this house
I’ll probably take a live German satellite feed and use the R5 commentary

Sky refused to allow VM to do that

This is what I’d do, but I don’t think our block of flats is allowed a sky dish, I’m in the stuff em category.

I meant to everyone Virgin, BT etc. Got to produce more revenue than loads of stuff ’em folk?
