skoda citygo, Seat mii, Volkswagen up

It seems they are the same car with a different finish and badge but I know next to nothing about cars.
Does anyone know if they are ok as a convenient 2nd car?

Can’t comment on the others, but my wife’s 5 door citigo has been brilliant for the two or three years we’ve had it (63 plate). Being five door it’s great for getting the kids in and out of too.

Feels damped like a bigger car when driving and nothing sounds particularly tinny about the doors, etc. (Which I wasn’t expecting).

Cheap as chips to run, too.

We had a Citigo when they first came out and loved it. It was characterful, a bit of a laugh to drive and very well thought out. They aren’t powerful but they’re as refined as that class of car gets. Ours was our only car, as a second car they’d be excellent. The boot is pretty big too.

They are all the same car with different grilles, lights and bootlids. What you go for is up to you – the Citigo is the cheapest to buy but maybe looks the most boring while the Up! is the most expensive, but is the most stylish and as it has the VW the resale value is higher. The Mii sits somewhere between them in terms of resale and style.

We’ve got the citigo. Great car to drive on motorways, country lanes and round town. Easy park. Generally very happy with it. Had a Mii as a hire car recently and didn’t like the interior. A bit over designed compared to the simple citigo imo. Not exciting, just does what a car should do

i love the up – such a great little car – used one as a work pool car for a few years and much preferred it to other vehicles on offer. even for longer trips.

My niece has an Up and regularly drives from Devon to Derbyshire in it. She abuses it and treats it like a skip and it never seems to miss a beat! 🙂

As you say – all same car, but different specs and trim levels.

Got the Mii (as a 2nd car) and its brilliant. Paid just over 5k for a year old 4000 mile example 4 years ago. Always seems to put a smile on my face when I drive it. Ride quality and handling are great. As said above the Citygo / Mii / UP! are all essentially the same car and made in the same factory in Bratislava.
Engine wise you have options of 60 or 75 bhp. The extra 15 is all in the tuning at the top end of the rev range so unless your going to red line in every gear it wont make any difference in normal driving. The UP is also available as a GTi with turbocharged engine. VW have also had an overpriced limited range electric version for a while. Recently all 3 brands have announced electric versions (with better range) so the petrol Seat versions are ceasing production this month. Seat at least will only sell the electric going forward is my understanding. Not sure what Skoda/VW plans are longer term.

Great little cars, very willing engine, pretty comfy for long journeys and I’m 5’10”, and by long journeys that’s coming back from Cornwall, about a two and a half hour non-stop drive.
I overtook a Disco 4 on the M5 near Weston-Super-Mare in a Citigo once, in a bit of a hurry to drop it off and pick up another car, according to my satnav it was doing 105mph!
Of course, I didn’t believe it for a second…
Most of them have a removable satnav unit as well, or they used to.

Just bought a used VW UP, last week in fact, to replace The Wife’s antique Polo. Went for the High Up trim. Great little car that drives far bigger than it is. The wheels are right on the corners so it feels much bigger. Cruised back home on the motorway and dual carriageway at 70 without a worry in the world. Lacking the power on the A roads and you’ll only make progress if nothing is in front of you! But nippy and easy to drive around town.

I had a Mii for a few years when they started chucking them out for £70 a month on lease deals. It was a great little car! I’d have another in a heartbeat as a second car.

Had a mii for nearly a year now as a station / running dogs to the woods car.

It was a 2012 cat D car with 19k for just over £2k. Tax is £20, fuel economy is great. Popped it into the local indie servicing place for a check over and it didn’t need a thing.

Probably the best value car I’ve ever had. Missus even mulled over chopping in her JCW mini cos she was happy running around in it.

Having said that, overtaking large, slower-moving vehicles would have to be done with care, while there’s a surprising turn of speed from a small car, there clearly isn’t the horsepower for fast overtaking.
Delightful little cars, though, and very little difference between the different models.

Good choice, I bought a Citigo for my station car and love it.

Wifey bought a Mii four years ago, when we were looking then the Citigo only came with the 65hp engine, Seat and VW offered a 75hp motor which we bought. Fantastic car although a little wheezy on hills. She swapped it for a VW Up GTi last year, best small car ever.
