Thoughts on the cheapest/best way of running a 12 (or 11 speed) 11-51 HG cassette?

    Sunrace CSMZ800?

Deore M5100 11-51 is cheaper, what are people running?

NX cassette will do that, I can’t personally comment on the shifting Vs Shimano but many seem fine with it.

I have an NX in the parts bin! I guess I will give that a go. Anyone done it and can comment on the shifting?

nx should be the same tooth pitch as shimano, the sram road stuff is different afaik

which GRX mech have you got? I think there may be capacity issues with them – don’t they officially only go up to 34 tooth? might be a couple of different ones.

there is a road ratio 12 speed hg cassette – tifosi do a 11-32 for example.

NX shifts fine, but bloody hell it’s a heavy beast. Sunrace will save you a bit

There’s three 12 speed GRX rear mechs.  RX822SGS is the one for dinner plates, max sprocket 51T.  RX822GS is for max sprocket 45T and RX820 is for double set ups with a max sprocket of 36T.

I run a 11-51 deore cassette with a 11sp GRX rear mech with no extender or anything

That’s interesting. I’m running GRX 1×11 40T front with an 11-46 and was contemplating fitting the cage from a XT rear mech to allow for an 11-51. Maybe no need for the cage upgrade. Presumably it’s going to depend on the particular frame and hanger placement etc.

The XT cage mod looks interesting though. Ups the capacity without messing around with hanger extenders/links etc.

I’ve got a Camino that I’m running with an 11 speed GRX shifter, 12 speed grx derailleur and this deore cassette:

    Shimano Deore M5100 Cassette – 11 Speed

38 tooth oval chainring up front and a 118 link kmc chain (114 is too short).

The 12 speed pull ratio is the same as 11 speed on the rear derailleur so limit screws just need to be set correctly.

Running on the above Fustle, on a cotic cascade and a Sour Purple Haze, all different hangers, no mods
