    Hi,

Tried to put a 105 11 speed cassette on a Deore 10 speed hub, too wide so put it on some Planet X wheels  I had, works ok.

Then I read about the new R7000 105 cassette that is designed to fit a Shimano 10 speed hub, so bought one and guess what, too wide, maybe it would fit on a road hub.

i can try and return it, but does anyone have any solutions.

this is so I can ride Campagnolo gears on my cross bike, with discs, as the spacing is the same.

I know, I’ve brought this on myself, but it seemed a good solution

    Thanks

As far as I’m aware only the Ultegra spec HG-800 11-34 cassette fits on a 10spd hub, road 11spd has a longer freehub body whereas 11spd MTB is the same as 10spd.

I’m pretty sure it’s because the 11 speed MTB cassettes can be dished over towards the spokes whereas the smaller (25T or 28T) road cassettes cant and so wouldn’t fit without making the freehub body longer.  New age ‘big’ cassette’s such as the 11-34 one I mentioned are dished the same as MTB cassettes and therefore will fit the narrower freehub.

The new Ultegra and 105 11-34 cassettes fit on 10 spd Road freehubs and 8/9/10/11 spd MTB freehubs.

Ahh seems I missed the newer 105 stuff..  only the 11-34 cassette though, listed as CS-HG700 rather than R7000

That’s because HG7000 is SLX by another name

Thanks for the replies, it’s a cs r7000 11-32 that I have, arrived today, tried to fit tonight.  Everything I read suggested it should fit.

are you saying an 11-34 would fit but the 11-32 won’t ?

    thanks

Yes. The 34t fits in the same way that 11spd Shimano mtb cassettes fit with the largest cog dished over the hub flange.

Yep that’s the jist..  11-32 is 11 speed road only, 11-34 is 8/9/10 spd road and 11 spd mtb compatible so will fit on your Deore 10 speed hub.

I’ll get a 11-34 then and hope it works with my campag mid cage mech, 1×11, the 32 seems fine.  Merlin seem cheapest.

    thanks all
