Currently running SRAM GX1 rear mech and shifter on my Orange Four, would I notice any benefits upgrading to the XTR rear mech and shifter? Plan to keep the XG Cassette as the weight and range ‘appear’ pretty good.

Also thinking about upgrading from the Raceface Turbine crankset and BB – to a lighter option – suggestions?

What are you trying to do?

The Turbine’s sort of annoyingly middle of the road- it’s not that light but it’s light enough and nice enough to make any meaningful upgrade expensive. And the Next SL which is the obvious upgrade, is rubbish.

What size ring? This is oldschool but the XTR M970 cranks are still a fantastic option, provided you can live with the 104BC and subsequent restrictions on small rings. They’re stiff, they last forever and they weigh less than a lot of carbon cranks.

I’m hoping to achieve smoother shifting and lighter components.
