New saddle time for my electric Trek Rail

I run SDG Bel Air 3.0 LUX Alloy Rail Saddles on all my other bikes (orange, brompton, commuter) as they are comfy and work for me

I can simply stick with this tried and tested formula…

… but wanted to consider the design of the V3 Max “Exaggerated rear rise that boosts stability and ensures efficient power transfer, ideal for e-bike rides”

Anyone care to share their experience?

(I’ve discounted the V3 Overland as an option)

I’ve got the Max Traditional saddle, well two now. I find it more comfortable than the non-Max version, which I’ve got on my full-suss but the Max version works well on my hardtail (just fitted a Max to my gravel bike, but not ridden it yet). The MAX’s relief channel is deep enough that it is just like having a cut out channel. The rear does have quite a lip at the rear but it doesn’t bother me, but I imagine some people might not like it. None of my bikes are e-bikes.

    Thanks @pipm1 for sharing

I had stumbled across the traditional steel option which is half the price of alloy for 100 gram more in weight

Following your experience I’ll get the Max traditional steel – cheers

I fitted three of my bikes with SDG BelAir I-Beam saddles, which all had a space between the saddle hull and the I-Beam. They were very light, and quite possibly the most comfortable saddle I’d ever used, which is why three of my bikes had them. The space under the hull allowed a fair degree of flex, which added to the comfort, but it looks like there are relatively few I-Beam saddles, and none with the air-gap as far as I can tell now, which is a shame.

    Absolutely creak-free as well.

I went off bel air saddles after the ti rails on one broke.   I am…errr. … I wasn’t a porker either!

I found a basic maddison saddle with the same shape for about half the price
