We will be in touch
I am hesitant to ask about another cycling forum/online community on this one, as it will seem like I'm preparing to cheat, but what is road.cc?
It looks well-established and very polished, and sells some nice branded kit, but who is it affiliated with? Surely it can't just be a website, can it? Is there a magazine behind it? An organisation or charity? What does it represent, other than an interest in road cycling? Any social or environmental agenda?
There just doesn't appear to be much 'about' information on the site. Is anyone on here also a member of their forum?
Does it matter?
Its a website which mostly generates traffic by writing about horrible things happening to cyclists.
When it started they seemed to have a "matey" attitude with this site.
I'm a member of the forum but too busy on here usually.
I like the tone and style of their articles, quite wide ranging with a roadie bias, obviously. Great kit reviews, especially their lights comparison tool.
I have absolutely no knowledge or interest in who might be "behind" them. Do we need to get JiveHoney on the case?
It used to be linked to this place, where the grit.cx is now.

I comment on a few of the stories, as do a few usernames I recognise, but so far I've resisted being drawn into another [s]time-vampire[/s] forum.

Its a news website focussed on road cycling. Majority of cycling news is new bikes, race results and (unfortunately) cycles involved in road accidents. As above, a fair few comments on the articles seem to think road.cc should just be a bike review site.
It used to be a really good roadie focused review website with some good blogs and a little bit of racing coverage.
Now its a sub-daily mail troll fest thats full of clickbate shit about commuters and van drivers fighting and posh people moaning about roadworks and i hate it.
ah Thank you. That feels so much better
Does it matter?
How is that helpful? I asked the question, so it obviously mattesr to me. If you don't think it does, then don't answer.
I don't like road.cc it looks slick and I like the socks, but it's the daily mail of cycling news.
Good for individual reviews, but far too focussed on the negative side of cycling just to draw clicks. Does my nut in.

Dunno if I'd go quite that far but it does seem to have changed tone over the last year or so, and not for the better. Don't think the redesign has helped either, although it's probably the nature of website redesigns that people don't like them as much as the old one!
So does anyone know why the link was removed from the bottom of this page?
I like the reviews and buying guides.
Familiar names, usually seem honest and well written.
Not snobby, something for everyone.
Since Cycle Active went 'inspirational and aspirational' it's about the only place you can find proper reviews of reasonably priced bikes and kit.
Never look at the news section, or the forum.
seems to be going like Bikeradar. ads ads ads
Independently owned by Farrelly Atkinson - plenty of well respected freelancers (david arthur etc) who write on a range of subjects. think some of the top guys are ex-Future Publishing (FA still based in Bath).
FA also do content/web stuff and mebbe some marketing activities, for a range of other companies - http://f-at.co.uk/clients.php
no formal link with STW (unlike grit.cx, obviously), just a friendly link share agreement, IIRC
nice bunch of guys, IME.
