I'd say there's much better in that area. Depends on what you want out of a ride of course.

I'm sure there'll be other on soon offering their routes

Id change your route slightly to take in 3 extra bits.

The above route take you upto the beacon then onto the mast. At the end of the road before it bears left theres a gate which will deliver you down in Belmont via 1.3m of unadulterated fun. Follow the road back up then swing off left which brings you out at the pigeon tower. A nice boulderfield (ice cream run) drops you back down to a carpark where there should be an ice cream van waiting to have a break. From here head out to Healy Nab where at the top of the hill is a small but fun sectoin of Red & black purpose designed trails. From here you can follow on back to the bridge were it all began.

what he said but Healy nab is a fair way away and not worth it IMHO it it just near the end of the reervoir away for Rivington. Belmont San Marino should be ridden back up and then down the other way off the shoulder.
E-mail me if you want some local knowledge.

Junkyard Ive seen a few bikes heading off the shoulder at the far end of the masts. Whats over there ?

As you say Healy Nab is a fair way out and the routes there are very very short.
It does give you a bit of a blast after such a long trek and lets you see the other parts of the area.

    Big steep gully
You follow road to end mast and look to the right and cycle immediate left along top of shoulder to obvious path /gullty . RIDE the gully as the grass is way too steep ungrippy. It leads down to the belmont road [off road bit] and left to tower or right ot lead mines clough
