Ribble

I’m planning on using the Bike2Work Scheme to get myself a nice new Ribble. I have never really heard of them before but unless your a “Bike Snob”, they seem like good well reviewed bikes and value for money. I’m thinking the Sportive Bianco with 105 and Aero wheels, any thoughts? Anyone had experiences with Ribble in the past? However the bike is 1073 £73 over the £1000 mark allowed. Ribble say if this happens ring them to discuss it, do you think if i pay the excess they will come to some sort of “Arranged deal”?

If anyone has any other similar brands with a similar spec suitable give me a shout!

Planet x carbon, Boardman, Cannodale [ lower spec but one the best bike for 1k iirc] one othe rcant remember at the minute

I love mine. Not the best at replying to emails, but they do eventually do the right thing. Will be absolutely flawless if there’s no issues, will be a bit annoying if there is. But for what you get, I’d buy again.

For their customer service, I had an issue with a Cateye computer where the sensor failed, e-mailed them, send it back without all the accessories, a couple of weeks later a complete new complete retail boxed one was returned, happy with them so far.
They can take a little time with shipping, but not much worse than CRC, they are often a lot cheaper, so can live with that.

Ordered my Ribble Sportive via Cyclescheme, and after talking to Ribble they said they would allow up to £300 over the £1000 threshold, so I paid £1300 for the Sportive plus upgrades. There is also a £65 admin charge for doing the Cycle to Work scheme. The bike arrived in less than 2 weeks, and has been spot on since (haven’t had any loose bolts, misligned brakes or anything in over 2000 miles)

Think i might go for it then, although the Gran Fondo looks pretty special, not sure
Sportiv vs Gran Fondo!

I’ve got the Gran Fondo and love it.I cannot fault it as a bike, a work or art or a play thing.

After placing the order on-line I phoned up to change the size of the cassette which the did right away and even changed the back derailleur to match.

You wont be disappointed.I’ve fallen back in love with road riding again!!

When I have enough spare cash this will be first on my wish list. Cracking value and really comfy!

Decided on the Sportiv, just because it has many good reviews wwhere as the Gran Fondo is much less spoken about (not that im saying its not good) just sportiv is a safe bet. Now the decision

Anybody give me an idea of weight of there Ribble’s?
I’m thinking Gran Fondo Frame, with 105 Group Set and mavic Aksium wheels

I reckon my Sportive with Ultegra groupset and Shimano RS10 wheels is about 18 pounds. Maybe a smidge more (weighed with £2.99 luggage scales so probably a guide only). Very competitive weight for the money.
