There was a recommendation on here a few months ago (possibly Kryton/Renton ?) regarding some light weight gloves that reduce pressure on the hand palm areas. I think they were possibly an Italian brand (?) that have the internal padding located in the non-pressure points of contact i.e. the main glove padding is in the fingers and digital areas. The gloves were recommended to help better distribute pressure on the handlebars…. anyone help ?

Specialised Grail used to do this – padding in the palm hollow, not the contact areas.
I still love them but that style is discontinued.

    So basically, watching with interest.

Think the grails were discontinued, although some were still available. Pearl Izumi also do them, and we’re mentioned on a thread fairly recently by me and a couple of others.

Might well be the Pearl Izumi, any idea of the model ?

I think it’s the Pearl Expedition glove? They have padding in the non key pressure areas, which helps reduce palm pressure.

Specialized grail is still available here on the continent, I bought a few new pairs this year (new colours for 2024 so not old stock). I have never got on with gloves that put the padding at the high points, and before discovering the spesh grails I could only wear gloves with no padding.

Ooooh… they appear to be back.  I may need to get my wallet out.

Yeah, it is. I get on really well with the Grail and bought a pair of the Pearl Izumi out of curiosity. The Pearl Izumi pad isn’t quite as nicely integrated as the one in the Grail, so doesn’t sit as neatly in the hollow of the palm – ie: you’re more conscious of the pad being there – but they do seem to work okay so far. iI think the Grail is better though ymmv.

As I think I posted on the previous thread, there do seem to be some Grails still knocking around. Interesting if there is new stock in Europe. I wonder why it wouldn’t be available over here. Did we vote against it or something…

Grail gloves are available at bike inn:

Usually a good price from there, though it can take a couple of weeks for things to arrive.
