Resole five tens

I’ve got a pair where the main shoe is still in good condition but soles are worn through and detaching.  There’s a few threads on the search with a couple of companies but they are a few years old, so wondering if any more recent experience of this. Was hoping for a more DIY solution as the repairs don’t seem too much of the price of a new pair of shoes

I agree regarding the comparative cost of resole Vs new shoes. New shoes for £50…

That’s because people don’t work for free and resoling shoes is time consuming and smelly.

5.10 don’t sell sole units to you anymore (apparent’y) but vibram will so you can try yourself.

it’s about £50 a pair.  I think it’s a Vibram sole but she reckons it’s both very grippy and wearing well.

(but lots of cheap 5:10s about recently so she bought a couple of new pairs for less than that shortly afterwards that are now on the shelf)

If the resolve is about cost, then your right, you could likely get a new pair for similar to a resole.  If it’s about not wasting a perfectly good upper and ending up with a shoe that will last another x years, then resole.

Ive not sent them yet, but have had very good chat with cheshiresoles.co.uk who seem to be able to resole anything and have the vibrant ‘dotty’ sticky sole available which would likely be a good 5:10 match? Lancashire Sport Repairs is the other one that most often gets recommended and is the main repairer for a lot of manufacturers.

I’ve got a pair of the heavier 5:10 boots, the problem with them is not the actual sole wearing out, but the foam ‘air’ midsole has disintegrated: the uppers are in perfect condition, so I really don’t want to throw them out if I can get the midsole replaced.
