  • Replacement for the original Adidas Terrex Trailcross Protect Shoes

    My favourite riding shoes are getting past the point of needing replacing, the original Adidas Terrex Trailcross Protect.

    I don’t get on with the newer narrow toe box shape of the five ten, Trailcross pro I have to size up but then it’s annoyingly long. (GTX version is usable but too hot for summertime)

    So, moon on a stick, I want a light weight summer shoe with sole that has some feel to it, some sort of cuff to stop debris getting in but not waterproof. Any options or reccomedations that I’ve missed?

    My widest shoe so far is the altra Mont Blanc.

    incredibly light. Maybe puruse their range of hiking boots?

    Ta, walking shoes/ boots soles won’t cut it for me. They don’t have to be particularly wide, just not new 5 10 last. There is plenty of choice of flat pedal shoes but with out the cuff to stop stones and dirt getting in. When I wear them especially when it’s dry and loose I find I get something in there quite quickly that annoys me.

    @K

    What size are you?

    I have a pair I don’t use any more kicking around.

    Feels like a lucky escape by being the wrong size for someone else’s old shoes…

    Just to add I also thought I’d found the perfect shoes in Adidas Terrex only for them to change the toe size so newer ones are crippling. I’m going to have same problem when mine wear out.

    I’m going to try some shimano GR903 as they have an “ankle collar”.

    I also suffered from the narrow toe box shape of the five tens. Ride concepts shoes have a much better shaped toe box for me so may be worth a look.

    Ride concepts are great, my son has wide feet and loves his ones.

    I’ve got a a pair of shimano GR903 03 observations so far.

    Sole is a little stiffer than I would like but not a problem.

    Tonge isn’t gusseted down the sides.

    Cuff is only around the shoe and stops at the panels for the laces.

    Positive note, the sizing seems pretty good. Not particularly wide toe box but I will be keeping them.
