  • Relaxed geometry road bike for under £4k?

    Asking for a friend 🙂

Requirements are a carbon frame, Di2, disc brakes (pref hydraulic), Ultegra and relaxed geometry for less than £4k
    He’s narrowed it down to:

    Giant Defy
    Cannondale Synapse
    Specialised Roubaix
    Another one I can’t remember!

Any comments/suggestions welcome. He’s also considering buying an upgrade able frame and putting the Di2 on himself.

    Cheers!

Think the fourth one was a Focus Cayo actually.

I wondered about the GT grade and putting Di2 on it.

Trek do a domane disk. Not sure on the spec off the top of my head but it looks a great frame.

Yes, I wondered about that. Mixed spec I think but worth a look. Thanks.

Does the Trek Boone meet the bill?

Cannondale Synapse. The reviews all rave about this bike and I think it might even be slightly better than my Roubaix SL4, which I love.

For £2500 with either bike you’ll get Ultegra and a superb ride.

The Focus Cayo is fairly racey IIRC.

    Something custom in titanium.
    Clearly.

Actually I did suggest that 🙂

All I have to say is that the Defy Advanced is a lovely frame which is super-comfy for long rides – and has very nicely balanced handling IMO.

Rode mine with the stock Giant wheels for a bit and actually found it too comfy/vague, swapped to my Ksyriums and it now feels sharper while still cutting out the vibrations.

BMC GF01 ticks all the boxes.

Build a Tripster? If you want a relaxed geo it’s perfect – plus he’s probably looking for comfort over speed on those criteria.

Built mine for around half that, but splashed out on an extra set of road wheels
    and used 105 / Spyres.

I don’t feel disadvantaged on road rides, or at least not by my bike.

Worth looking at the imminent Genesis Datum 30.

Carbon frame with clearance for big tyres, Ultegra Di2 with the Hydro brakes and all at £3200
