I think the answer to this is pretty much “anywhere”, but I’m looking for inspiration!

We’ve got a couple of weeks booked off work from the end of June and thinking about a camping holiday in France for an 18month old, my wife and I.

We would be likely ferrying to Rotterdam / Amsterdam and driving from there. Looking for a couple of different campsites staying a week at each.

ideally a campsite with village/beach/lake/river/walks & stuff within cycling distance – will be towing a croozer so preferably flat.

Last time we went to Annecy which was great!

Campsites, beaches, dead flat, entirely designed around cruising round on bikes – Ile de Re, accept no substitute.

We had a couple of great holidays when our youngest was a toddler at Guilvenec in Brittany.

Camping Le lac d’orient. We went last year and are going back again this summer. Just east of Troyes in the champagne region. On the edge of a big lake with a lovely beach. Pool and kids club on site. Like a mini eurocamp, lots of nice euro families, not rowdy and very friendly.

Edit -just saw the requirement for towing a croozer. There is a segregated cycle path around the lake, 20miles long with plenty of others in the area.

huttopia are lovely campsites – lots of waterfront options, glamping if you can’t fit all your gear in the car, normally set in woodland

The long ferry to Holland leaves you a fair way from France, and I’m not sure the wee one would sleep great on it. IME it’s a lot of £££ too.

I have great memories of our (then 18-24ish month) daughter standing on the bed by the window of the Dover Travelodge excitedly watching ferries come & go on the morning we sailed (took us two days from Scotland to Dover though, so I know it’s a compromise).

There are loads of great campsites all over France. Are you taking a tent, or looking at a static caravan?

BITD, we found some gites (cottages) which catered specifically for pre school kids, so there were other kids the same age, an indoor play area, etc. I think where we were has changed now though.

We’ve stayed at a few Yelloh! Sites with our own caravan more recently (and will this summer), which are great, but you won’t need kids clubs, etc yet.

    Some great campsites around Carnac.

Our kids loved all the standing stones.

    huttopia sites are gerenally decent.

we always used to take the small kids to places with a decent pool and close enough to a village to get a bit of food. nothing fancy the small kids dont need much entertainment if they have a pool and some outdoors toys.

we liked la lido campsite near paris not fancy at all but a nice site. served really nice belgian beer in teh bar (as opposed to teh watery french lager sold in most places at the time)!
